Sewing the Elf doll...

The elf doll (11" tall) is coming along nicely! This is my favorite part of dollmaking...when the personality emerges. She still needs hair, her elf ears, and clothing.

Back to work....

I really love your dolls, and the candlewicking, how does that work? I hve heard of it but never tried it.

candlewicking is basically just a picture outlined in knots. Traditionally it was done white on white...and the thread used was really the stuff used for candle wicks.

Some people use french knots. I'm french knot impaired (which I blame on my left-handedness lol) so I use the other type of knots...colonial knots. I find colonial knots to be user-friendly :)

Here's a how -to link: http://www.crossstitchzone.com/tips.htm#colonial

Dannielle, your doll is lovely! I love, love, love the autumn collar. I've had oak leaves on the brain lately. Thank you for the nice comment on my blog. Your dolls are packed and ready to go with the mail carrier today. You should receive them Saturday.
